Mark 11: 21-23. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Looking at the image, what do you see? Is it real or imagined? Can a hot air balloon really carry an elephant over water and across the world? I say, why not? Scripture tells us that with God, all things are possible. The key to the “possible” is what we believe but most of all, in whom we believe.
Where then is our faith is grounded? The world seems chaotic right now. Fear is prevailing in so many areas. People are afraid of catching disease, death (of themselves or loved ones), losing sources of income or becoming poor. We are seeking answers in PPE (personal protective equipment) as if that alone can spare us from what we fear the most. Of course, WEAR THE FACE MASK, and heaven knows we should always use good personal hygiene. I am not advocating being reckless or foolish. I am saying to put trust in God, the real expert, and allow him and him alone to guide our actions.
God has already done and is moving to do some impossible things in our lives. We must be able to speak to the mountains in our lives to move, get out of the way and simply believe God. Say it with me now, “I believe God!” Now simply saying we believe God is only part of the victory. To believe God, we must know the promises of God. What are some of the timeless promises of God? Here are some that address fear, seeking answers, and abundant living:
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Luke 11:9-10 So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
I assure you, there is a promise for every mountain or dilemma we are facing now or will ever face in the future. Trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not to our own understanding. Turn instead to the Word and words of God, there we will find strength and build faith to see the impossible.
Can you now see the elephants in your life, hitched to a hot air balloon, and soaring across the world? I certainly can.
